On the Sunday before election day, for our morning devotion at breakfast, I read Psalm 24. “Who is the King of Glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O gates. And lift them up, O ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in!”
So important is it to remember that no matter how crazy our world may seem sometimes, our God is mighty and He controls our today and tomorrow. Our lives do not rest in the hands of mortal men or imperfect presidents, but in the strong hands of the King of glory. We vote for presidents who make great promises, but only God is always able to back up His promises with faithful promise keeping.
Our God is an awesome God
He reigns from heaven above
With wisdom power and love
Our god is an awesome God
O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast, and our eternal home.
Before the hills in order stood, or earth received her frame,
From everlasting Thou art God, to endless years the same.
The God who sent His only son into the world to pay our debts and make all things new, is the same God who is with us now and to the end of this age. It is He who one day will receive us into glory. Praise God, Amen.
