- Dr. Tania Edwards, DO (Doctor of Osteopathetic Medicine)
Dr. Tania C. Edwards is board certified in family practice. She is the founder and senior physician of Chattahoochee Valley Family Medicine, Inc. Dr. Edwards graduated Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Pomona, CA. She completed her Family Practice residency from Columbus Regional Medical Center, Columbus, GA in 2004. She is a native Nevadan and is married to Dr. Dothel W. Edwards, Jr a native Georgian.
Dr. Edwards is an Osteopathic Family Physician who believes that preventive medicine is the key element to wellness. She believes in routine health screenings as recommended by the American Academy of Family Physicians. These exams include, well visits, mammograms, pap smears, prostate, and cholesterol screenings, etc., to help her to screen, detect problems, and if necessary to intervene early to promote life-long wellness. Dr. Edwards is a friendly, caring, non-judgmental, straight-forward individual who leads by example and who wears her faith on her sleeve. She is also a working mom and offers her patients the warmth and grace that only a mother can provide. Her motto is: treat others as you would want to be treated. Outside of the office, you are likely to find her actively involved in her church/community and spending time with her family.
- Dr. Nicholas Smith, DPM (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine)
Dr. Smith is a native of Columbus, Georgia where he graduated from Calvary Christian High School. He attended Auburn University where he majored in Biomedical Sciences. Following Auburn University, Dr. Smith attended the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago, Illinois where he received numerous awards and scholarships. While attending podiatry school, he is one of the few who also obtained his Masters Degree in Healthcare Management and Administration. Dr. Smith then completed his 3 year residency training at one of the top hospitals in Chicago, Loyola University Medical Center.
While at Loyola, Dr. Smith served as chief resident while receiving extensive training in all aspects of podiatric care including bunions, ankle and heel pain, foot and ankle injuries, as well as reconstructive forefoot and rearfoot surgery and diabetic limb salvage. He joined Columbus Foot & Ankle in the summer of 2012. He enjoys lecturing to the local community and is a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, Georgia Podiatric Medical Association, and the American Podiatric Medical Association.
- Dr. Amber Safar, Board Certified Family Physician
Dr. Amber Zafar has been living in Columbus for 16 years and has three children. She completed her Family Practice residency at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, Additionally, Dr. Zafar trained in Preventive Medicine at Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina. She has a Masters in Public Health from the University of South Carolina and an MD degree from Dow Medical College in Pakistan. Dr. Zafar previously worked as Faculty with the Family Practice Residency Program at Midtown Medical Center for three years.
